5 Ways You Can Still Make Money Online In 2019

A few years ago, I set myself a little mission to some extra cash to put towards my savings for a mortgage. I’ll be honest, apart from eBay, I had no idea where to start!

I was already working long hours and my commute home was pretty hectic (I was out of the house from 7am – 8pm at night) so finding something that I could do in my spare time seemed pretty overwhelming and unrealistic.

Any spare time I got I would throw at helplessly searching on google and Youtube, soaking up all the ‘get rich quick’ schemes, promising me the world on a silver platter if I invested x amount and lots of other rubbish from these fake entrepeneaurs.

Even when I came across helpful articles, they all seemed to target the American market. So what’s a UK gal or fella who genuinely wants to make money online to do?

Fear not! There are still plenty of ways to make money online and you can start doing it right away.

1 – Selling online

Let’s start with one of my favourite ways to make some extra cash online, selling things! If you’re looking to start out, I recommend selling your own stuff on eBay and similar online selling sites first to get a feel for it.

Once you’ve mastered that, the world’s your oyster!

You could sell a product you manufacture or buy something in bulk and sell it to consumers via a selling site or your own website, or even on social media.

If you don’t have the room or you can’t afford the space to rent a warehouse or storage unit, you don’t even have to invest in stock, as many wholesalers will drop ship for you.

This means that you get the orders but they ship them straight to your customer. You pay them for the goods and keep the difference as your profit. Result!

If you’re an expert in a specific field or fancy honing in on a niche, there is always the option of buying and selling something more valuable.

You might have to spend a bit more to start with, but with things like diamonds, just as an example, you can buy jewellery at markets and car boot sales.

Psst… Make sure you do your homework and find out more about any diamonds at

Sites like this are full of useful information that will help you to understand diamonds much more, as well as explaining how they are graded. Perfect!

2 – Matched Betting

Matched betting is something that I hadn’t heard much about before I joined the money-saving blogging community, but it’s really popular and such an easy way to make money online!

It’s a very simple concept, when you sign upto a bookmaker’s site as a new player, they often give you a free bet as a bonus.

You then pick a sport, like football, and bet on both outcomes, once with your paid bet and again with your free bet. The better the odds, the more you will win, but at the very least, you’ll break even.

Some bookmakers also give free bets as loyalty bonuses so you do not have to keep signing up to new ones! It might sound quite risky, but actually, it’s not gambling at all because there isn’t any risk to your money.

It’s not illegal either, it’s just really clever!

3 – Blogging

If you need to make money quickly, I’m afraid to say that blogging is not the way. It takes time to build followers but it’s a fab creative outlet for me personally and if you’re an expert on a topic and enjoy writing about it, you get to help others!

Once you have reached a stage where you’ve developed a following, you can earn a nice little amount from blogging from things like:

  • Affiliate marketing – where you get paid a commission when someone signs up for a service or buys an item from a ling on your blog
  • Sponsored posts – where companies pay you to write a blog post to reach your audience in the hope they will become customers of theirs
  • Blog ads – where brands pay for certain ads to feature around your blog e.g. sidebar or you can insert ads yourself from places like Google Adsense, where you get paid when someone clicks one
  • Additional products & services – lots of bloggers position themselves as authoritative in a subject so go on to sell courses, ebooks, etc. and offer additional services like social media management or bookeeping

Like I said, it can take a while to build up an income from a blog and each blogger will earn a different amount, so don’t feel disheartened if you’re just starting out and you see others earning loads each month.

Remember, they were once in your shoes!

4 РSurvey Sites

Just like blogging, survey sites are not going to make you a millionaire overnight, but filling in surveys are quick and easy and anyone can do them!

The beauty of surveys is that you can fit them in whenever you want, and do as many or as few as you have the time for. Make sure you do your research on sites, though, as some do pay more than others.

Check out my list of favourite survey sites to help you get stated.

5 – Website and App Testing

Before a website or app is released, some companies like to see how they work in practice. These brands and companies will genuinely pay people to test new websites and apps for them!

Can you believe that you can actually get paid for that??

Although it pays quite well, the amount of work available can be limited, so again, good for extra pennies, NOT a full-time job.

Also, make sure you do your research and check reviews from real people before you sign up, as there can be some scam sites knocking around out there.
